Unique Resource Name for each 8431/8 serial port?

Solved!
Go to solution

Hello All,

I am developing test applications that will use the PXI-8431/8 serial interface card.  Since I do not have the hardware yet, I am unsure how it will be recognized in NI-MAX, and since it will (presumably) use the generic VISA Serial functions, I can't predict any special configuration options (no special drivers).  Will each of the 8 ports on the serial card show up in NI-MAX as it's own individual VISA Resource Name, or do I need to find a different way to differentiate between channels/ports?  Please advise. Thanks.

They will show up as normal serial COM ports.  Nothing special.
