TNT4882 sometimes unresponsive to NI GPIB controller upon powerup

Sometimes, upon power up of my instrument with a TNT4882
and 8051, the GPIB Controller fails to recoginize that
the instrument is on the bus. This happens about 25% of the time. Is there some register that perhaps is coming up in an undetermined state that I need to set?

Thanks,

Phil

Hello Phil,

I am not sure of exactly what you are doing, but the TNT4882 Programmer Reference Manual is a great reference for programming the TNT4882; the following link will help you find it:

Phil,

When your instrument powers on, after power is stable you need to assert reset for a minimum time as specified in the datasheet. When reset is asserted you should not access any registers.

When you try to talk to the instrument through the controller, what error do you get?

Is there any way to tell from the instrument if the 8051 was successfully able to initialize the TNT4882?
