RS 485 port test using Lab Windows

Hi,

I am testing an RS 485 device. I wanna send ascii format commands from my computer to the device. I know there is a sample project called serial.prj but that is for rs232 apps. Is there a sample project like this that is compatible with rs485? Can I use this sample to communicate with my rs485 device?

For the most part, RS-232 and RS-485 devices use the same UART-based communication protocol (start, data, parity, stop, repeat). So the only thing you need to do to communicate with your RS485 device is install a RS485 COM port (RS485 is electrically different from RS232) or use an adapter to go from RS232 to RS485, and look up your devices communication settings (e.g. 115200,8,N,1).
