PCI-8431/4 is claimed to be able to achieve baud rates up to 1 Mbit/s. I am wondering if the non-standard high speed rates are completely software programable. On some other cards, one has to change the on-board oscillator clock to be able to go to high baud rates. I assume that for this board I can set the baud rates in VISA the same way I set them for a standard serial port on a PC. Please advise.
The PCI/PXI-843x boards can hit any baud rate - both standard and non-standard - up to 1 Mb without any hardware changes. They are software programmable through VISA, LabVIEW, or whatever you are using for your serial application.
