PAL driver invalid message

Trying to install NI-DAQ v.6.9.2f8 on IBM xSeries 345 server running Win2K/Server OS. System complains on bootup that NI-PAL driver (ver1.6.3f0)is invalid. Same setup works on Dell 2550 server. Any ideas what's going on?

ronl,

It sounds like something may have corrupted your DAQ installation on this xSeries PC. I would recommend that you go ahead and upgrade to our latest driver: version 7.1. You can download it for free by navigating to this link. Additional information about it can be located there as well.

To install this version, you must first have uninstalled DAQ 6.9.

If you experience an error of this type with a current version of National Instruments hardware/software, then I recommend contacting National Instruments Support at "http://www.ni.com/ask" (then select E-Mail or Phone NI) -- it is doubtful that folks on this forum will be able to assist you with this type of issue. The error message says that the Driver or Service is Invalid (at which point I would normally recommend reinstalling, upgrading, or verifying that the files and registry keys are present)? In some cases however, I have observed Windows being confused and returning an incorrect error message which is what I suspect is happening in your case. Multiprocessor systems have niche hardware configurations that have been known to cause problems of this sort
(some vendors more than others). If upgrading/reinstalling does not solve the problem (also consider BIOS and OS updates), then please contact our support team and we will work with you to resolve the issue in a timely fashion.

I am using a PXI-6533 DIO card which as I see it, is on the list of not-yet supported cards. So, I cannot use the new drivers, yet.

NI-DAQ 7.x ships with two flavors -- mx and Traditional. Your 6533 is not supported by the mx driver as of yet, but it is supported by the Traditional NI-DAQ 7.x driver. Furthermore, Traditional NI-DAQ 7.x does resolve some issues that were not resolved in the 6.9.x series. To see that NI-DAQ 7.x does support your board, visit "http://www.ni.com/support/daq/versions.htm". I recommending upgrading to this version because it has improved multiprocessor and multiple host bridge support (your system has one, if not both of these). If that does not resolve your problem, then contact support directly at "http://www.ni.com/ask" and we will work with you to get this issue resolved.

Just to finish this thread. I installed the version 7.1 DAQ drivers and this took care of the NI-PAL problem. Thanks for your help.
