NI MAX all GPIB instruments have a red cross

We have a few systems where all GPIB instruments have a red cross overlay.  However, clicking on communicate with instrument and getting the IDN, for those instruments that respond to *IDN?, returns the correct string.  Running our LabVIEW programs, we can talk to the devices without any trouble. What is the underlying cause of this overlay and how to correct it.?

What was the last change made before this started to happen? What Versions of NI-488.2, NI-VISA and NI-LabVIEW are you currently using?

The only change we made was that LabVIEW 2015 SP1 and SP1 f5 were installed on top of the old 2012 installation. 

NI VISA and 488 were 15.0.  Rebooting/resetting NI-MAX config etc, didn't solve it.

I installed both 16.0 versions of VISA and 488 and the crosses went away.  Hopefullyt hey won't come back, as if they do there isn't much one can do besides re-install.

oh ok! It's good that it's working properly now. Sometimes is just that the drivers have to be installed after installing LabVIEW or any other development environment. I believe that reinstalling  NI-VISA and NI-488.2 15.0. after upgrading LabVIEW would have worked as well.
