Monitoring a Watlow F4 Controller

Solved!
Go to solution

Yes it has digital outputs to control the compressor  I am using output number 8 and this chamber has no humidity capabilities only temperature

Actually, this chamber is very small and is a benchtop chamber

Thanks for your help

Do you know what stops that sample program after that short time? Is it an error or does the program just finish running?

Here are some sample programs for using a Watlow F4. They might be the ones you've already found but I believe one of them can control your device's target set point.

The reason your chamber may not be running correctly is that you do not have the correct event outputs configured in your subvi. For example if you want refrigeration on and chamber on, you must give these "event outputs" as part of your profile configuration.

I have attached the program that I wrote using the drivers found on the site. If you get problems about variant config or something, just ignore. I only use that for storing and saving my controls to a file on the disk.

Hope this is helpful.

Hi

I tried this VI yesterday however, I was not successful to get it to function with the chamber

I can see that the Watlow is accepting the communication but I then get a  timout error without the setpoint changing

I had to change the baud rate to 19200 for any type of activity

oen important thing you need is to make sure the baud rate in the VI is set to the same baud rate on the controller. I believe mine is set to 9600.

To all a good morning,

I downloaded various LabView drivers for the Watlow WLF4 controller and come up with missing VIs.

They are:

MODBUS RTU send message vi

MODBUS RTU receive message vi

WLF4 utility multiple write to register vi

WLF4 utility write to register vi

WLF4 utility read from register vi

If available please forward.

I have been away from LabVIEW for several years and getting back into the flow of things.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
