Is it possible to run more than one instance of NI IO Trace?

Solved!
Go to solution

I would like to compare two logs recorded with NI IO Trace side by side, but it seems I am not able to start two independent instances of the tool. Am I missing something or is it really so that only one instance can run at a time? And why is that so?

Thanks in advance for any reply.

Hey Juanton,

Unfortunately, it is not possible to run them in parallel. But since the report is a readable ASCII text file if you save it. You can use for example notepad++ with the compare plugin. This toll would even highlightz the differences between 2 reports.

Kind regards

Hi HeinzG.,

thanks a lot for your answer.

Unfortunately, the readable ASCII file generated from File >> Export...  has some drawbacks:

- It produces quite some (for my purpose) undesired overhead, which makes it unusable for Notepad++ comparisons as e.g. the time stamps will all be flagged as differences.

- It truncates the SCPI commands/responses (this is critical!).

Looks like I'll have to live up to not being able to do direct comparisons ...?

Best regards

Hey,

hmmm...

at least the timestamps you could remove with a simple VI before comparing.

Kind regards

Heinz

Hi,

that would probably be one first step.

I think we better drop it here.

Thanks for your efforts and best regards

Juan
