I looked up your device on ni.com/idnet, and I think we may be looking at the same page: http://sine.ni.com/apps/utf8/niid_web_display.download_page?p_id_guid=240C113D3165071BE0440003BA7CCD.... From what I see, it looks like the earliest version of LabVIEW that’s supported by those drivers is 8.2.1, so if you’re running 5.1.1, that version of the drivers isn’t likely to work.
Do you have access to a newer version of LabVIEW? If you do, that might make your project a lot easier, as you’ll have access to a wider pool of resources to work with.
If you don’t, then you still have a couple of options. You can always reach out to Stanford Research, and see if they have legacy drivers available for the device that reach back further than the ones published on our drivers database. If that doesn’t work, you could make your own drivers using VISA calls- here’s a tutorial that walks you through the steps required to do that: http://www.ni.com/tutorial/3511/en/.
