How can I direct output to a GPIB printer under Windows 2000?

I have large format color printers with GPIB (HPIB) interfaces that I need to use to print PC layout plots.

I tried the instructions for doing this in Win95 (enable DOS support, set printer port to DEV1) but it does not work. I have an AT-GPIB/TNT card and it does work and instrument scan finds the printer. But print jobs produce no output. NI-488.2 ver 1.7

Hello,

I tried to do this in Windows XP and was unsuccessful. The steps work fine on a Win95/98 machine, however. Thus, I am forced to conclude that Windows 2000/XP (and possibly NT) discontinued support for loading DOS-mode device drivers for device files like DEV1. I would recommend contacting the printer manufacturer to see if they have a current driver that could solve this problem, or possibly downgrading your OS.
