Getting Linux GPIB PCMCIA driver from sourceforge to work

Hello,

i have a GPIB PCMCIA card and would like it to work with Linux. I've downloaded the driver from:

http://linux-gpib.sourceforge.net/

which apparently should work with the NI card. There are no complaints from the system during the installation process. But its not working. Has anyone managed to get this linux driver working successfully? Is there a trick?

kind regards

I've used the same module you must be trying to load, tnt4882.o, on my
PCI-GPIB+ card. Used it with LabVIEW without too many problems. Never
tried it with the PCMCIA-GPIB card.

You're probably better off posting to the Linux-GPIB mailing list (not
that you shouldn't post here). Mr. Hess and the other developers are very
nice about providing support. When you do post there, ensure you mention
at least the following:

1) output from 'dmesg' after loading the module

2) modifications to your gpib.conf file

3) results of running the administration program 'gpib_config'

4) I forget what the packaged test interface is called but it allows
you run ibread, ibwrite, etc functions. See if that works.

5) all relevant SW versions you're
using

There could be some pcmcia config files to alter but I'm such a newbie to
that stuff. Well, I just looked at the LG ML and there was a recent post:
http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?thread_id=4854735&forum_id=2853

"run the configure script with --enable-pcmcia"

thanks Methis 🙂

i've kindof taken the easy option. i now have a card from INE-SINC (www.inesinc.com) they make linux drivers inhouse, and offer *remarkable* customer service!! they reply to the most complicated email within a few hours and even emailed out custom built code!!

sorry for the blatent praising. but if anyone is thinking about buying linux gpib, i recommend getting it from a manuf which offers native support, you'll save days/weeks.

now i just have to try to get my "NI DAQ-1200" card working 🙂 i'll follow your guidelines methis and email the comedi list (this Mr Hess works for them too!)
