I just stop to use MAX. For me it looks like it is only MAX that freeze the communication.
Before I used to use it to see if communication is fine, to check addresses and settings. But now as I set up all parameters of commuincation inside vi (which read from 670) I skipped MAX. I do not turn it on. I hope it will help - let me know.

How exactly did you do that?!? It seems like MAX updated something, and it seems forever stuck in the new configuration. We rebooted the machines, and they continue to act the same. I guess we can try to run just the apps after a restart, but they do use the VISA I/O control on the front panel, so I assume that control is tunneling thru to MAX at some level. Do you use pure string control when calling out the address? I am not sure any that helps if it is going to the VISA driver, and that is what is hosing. I will give it a try though. Just restart, and run the app, no MAX. I will give you an update...

I'm not a NI specialist and I may be wrong, but from what I observed it seems that when vi calls VISA, it doesn't go through MAX. So, yes, just run apps, do not run MAX.
When I'm calling address I use 'visa resource name'.
You can send me an e-mali, I will respond faster than through forum.
