Basic serial communication fails!

Hello!

I am trying since one week to get a serial device working with LabView 7. The problem is at the VISA serial component. I have tried using the example called "Serial communication", but when I try to run the application I get this error in the error box:

error code: -1073807202
source: Property Node in VISA Configure Serial Port (Instr).vi->Serial Communication.vi

The problem might come from not using the correct resource name for the COM1 port on my PC.

Could you please give me any hints on this?

Thank you in advance!

It sounds like something is wrong with your NI-VISA installation. Have you tried uninstalling NI-VISA and reinstalling it? Are you using the NI-VISA that came with on the LabVIEW 7 Driver CD? If you access the port from Measurement & Automation Explorer, does it work?

Hi Radu,

Which version of NI-VISA are you using?
Please be shure to run the latest version. Right now this is NI-VISA 3.0.1. You can check your version information in Measurement and Automation Explorer in the Software section.

The following link should lead you to the download of the most recent version:
