Problematic fallback to link local - how to avoid?

Solved!
Go to solution

Well, simply putting a file ini$$0.TMP in that directory (with settings like what you've described) and rebooting the target does not reproduce the problem. I tried it on a cFP-2220 with the full FieldPoint software set and add-ons installed.

I talked to Danny and he wanted to make sure you've upgraded to the latest FieldPoint driver, 6.0.11. That's the version that released last month.

If you manage to get that controller into a crashing state again when that TMP file is present, please use NI System Configuration to get an image of it that we can take a look at. If it's in safe mode at the time, set "auto restart" to false.

Thanks,

Dan

The problem is complex. Rebooting with the temp file is not enough as you also need to run an application that will try to reconfigure the device once again using the System Configuration API. There is a stage there that prevents the next restart from being succesful.

But there might be additional requirements. I believe we have a copy of all the file son the device from its crash state, I'll see if I can dig them up.

I have sent the files to you privately now. But the error log I sent earlier, did that give any clues?

No news? It would be nice to at least know if any further work on this was done. If no explanation was found, and the ball has been dropped, please tell.

No one seems to be following this issue, I cannot get contact with anyone who answered questions earlier, but I see that the copy of the crashing cFP-2220 did have an errlog.txt-file on it that contains error codes that seem to stem from this situation:

I found one document here that mentions something similar:

http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/E7D790B967B086648625756A0055A39D

But the solution given in that document is to contact NI...

I somehow missed the answer to the question whether this was tested with FieldPOINT 6.0.11, because it has a fix for the DHCP issue?

Could someone answer please?
