I tried the following search query in the forums: i3 json
Pressing the Search button transformed it into the following query: I ON
an Advanced Search doesn't do the substitution, but still, what's the idea?
Tested in Safari 7.1.6 (9537.85.15.3) Mac OS 10.9.5

Hi X,
This happens for the same reason as explained in this thread.
The search strings are spellchecked using a weighted dictionary specific to the forum context. When a user does a search, their original search is used as well as a spellchecked version. Depending on the outcomes of the two searches, the search results page displays either the results for the original string or the corrected one, i.e. if one search seems to have better results than the other.
Unfortunately, Lithium does not provide an option to users to enable or disable the search spellcheck in their preferences, so this is a forum-wide setting.
I've opened several enhancements with Lithium regarding the search and spellcheck settings.
Thanks.

The advanced search doesn't suffer from this problem, so there is a workaround, but it would indeed be preferable to have the ability to revert to the non-spell-checked query if it turns out that the spell-checker was overzealous.

This option to revert back to your original search query is under the search box. Search instead for query...

OK. I had read it as "search instead OF ..."
We're good then, thanks.

Same for me. Almost for every search.
Really annoying
