There's another attack that looks like an automated spam attack (close to a couple of hundred threads in the LV forum in the last couple of hours). I'm not sure what the point of this attack is, as some of threads don't seem to include links or useful info (maybe they're just there to create enough noise that it's harder to find and delete the actual spam?), but it looks like it includes automation of attachment uploads.
See an example here - http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/Where-Is-Gu%E2%84%9B%E2%84%8Aaon-Esc%E2%84%B4%E2%84%9Bts-Service-o95...

Maybe it's time again to float the suggestion of having trusted users who can mark other users as spammers, causing all their posts to be removed until a moderator approves or deletes them.

also here.
Maybe it already would help if new users had to wait a day or two until posting is allowed

I think that it would be bad to make new users wait. One of the great things about these Forums is that responses are often very quick.
Perhaps more appropriate would be to limit new users to one or two new threads per day. And maybe a limit on how many responses to other threads (not originated by the new user) the new user could post as well. That would frustrate the current spammer(s) without keeping a new user from getting some help promptly.

That's still not a bad idea... Jordan and crew normally do an excellant job of blowing these post out. But, like any other system, when you try to make it fool-proof a new fool comes along. Personally I can't really understand the attack.... If I wanted to find a service of that nature I'm fairly certain NI.com would not be my first stop on the web.
Besides- I'm covered for the day without.

Ah, but what would you do if you found yourself in Gurgaon? Does your badge carry any weight there?

I'd be just as happy clicking the "Quarentine User" button here as I would using the Report to moderator feature.

It happened again: http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabWindows-CVI/i%E2%84%95d%E2%84%AFp%E2%84%AF%E2%84%95d%E2%84%AF%E2%84%95t-C...
6 posts in 6 minutes and going
But after notifying the moderator all post were gone within a minute

Today the CVI forum received more than a dozen SPAM posts, no end in sight - all by the same user. I notified the operator of the first one but then I decided to be too lazy. NI is not even commenting on the discussion here The suggestion of johnsold would have reduced the mess a lot, so why get excited...
