A solution that I have found is to use Google Chrome instead of IE. I've had problems since my IE8 was updated (a Microsoft "security" update) several months back. The first time I noticed it was on Amazon.com's website when trying to download and save a Kindle book to my PC. (I'm in a weak/dead zone for their whispernet cellular signal.) The "Save" or "Save As" dialog box never opens; it used to work. Google Chrome works fine, as it does on this forum when I tried to add an attachment to a post today.
I just heard back from our vendor's development and product management team and they no longer support the use of compatibility mode within IE. Sorry there is no fix!
