Mark blogs as read?

If I go to the NI blogs and do a "blog option...mark all as read", they remain bold. Is this correct behavior?

The blog post titles aren't actually bold to indicate read status, that's just how the title is styled. The titles are also larger than what you would see in a board or documents list.

I can see how this may be confusing though. We can investigate if it's possible to have alternate styling for unread/read titles for both blog posts and documents.

Thanks,

Thanks. No it is not a size issue, but the distinction between bold/plain for unread/read is quite universal across the site and should be applied consistently.

So what does marking a blog as read or not read actually do? Seem like a NOOP. 😄

If you're looking at the category page for blogs, you will see there is a new post indicator. Using the "mark as read" option will bring this count to 0.

There's only one blog there right now so there's not much reason to go to that particular page, but with the upcoming migration this will soon change!

The problem I have is when I go into the blog list, I cannot tell which post has updates.  This includes new blog entries and comments.

Perhaps instead of the "latest comments" component, we could add an "unread posts" component similar to what you find on a board or in the Idea Exchange. Would that help?

That is what I use with the Idea Exchange.  So, yes, that would help.

We'll take a look at possibly adding that. If it helps, there's a way to get to the unread posts link for a blog using this type of URL structure:

http://forums.ni.com/t5/forums/unreadpostspage/board-id/news/tab/message/page/1

http://forums.ni.com/t5/forums/unreadpostspage/board-id/4001/tab/message/page/1

Replace the red text with the ID for the blog, which can be found at the end of the blog page URL:

http://forums.ni.com/t5/NI-Discussion-Forums-News/bg-p/news

http://forums.ni.com/t5/NI-Blog/bd-p/4001
