Finding threads in which I participated AND that have a new post

Hi,

One thing I often do in the morining when I first login is go to my post tracker (http://forums.ni.com/t5/forums/messagetrackerpage/user-id/xxxxxx) that diplays my post history from most recent to oldest, this way I can see if there's been activity in the threads I participated in.

Now the issue (or rather limitation) is that is we're talking about a thread that has low activity (say that the questionner only came back after 2-3 days) then I might miss that activity because in my tracker this thread will be displayed in the 4th or 5th page (of course I could change my settings to display 100 threads per page but I'd end up with cramps in my fingers for scrolling too much).

What would be cool in the tracker view I mentioned earlier is the ability to sort threads by most recent activity.

Anyone has a better way?

Re: Finding threads in which I participated AND that have a new post

This has been asked many times since I started using the forums. The fact that Lithium doesn't implement it would seem to indicate that they're not really aware of what the power users need or that they don't care enough to do this.

Jordan, PLEASE tell Lithium about this again. Make it clear that this is something that is important to the power users. For me (and I'm sure most of the heavy posters), this is THE TOP REQUEST.

My suggestion for this - there needs to be a new unread module (probably in the main forums page) which shows threads from all boards which I replied to and which have unread posts. That's all that this module needs to show (of course, it needs to have a link to those threads, as well as the first unread post, just like the boards).

If you go back 6 years, you can find this post that requests the same. :smileyvery-happy:

I didn't know that :-o but it's good to see I'm not alone!

That's a good suggestion, I vote for that!

This is why I have to use the email notifications to tell me this information. It is a poor substitute, and, as has been noted before, it has its own set of problems when you have thousands of such subscriptions. It's the likely cause of why it takes so long to log in.

Thanks, for bringing this to my attention, guys!

I will definitely bring this up again with Lithium.

Re: Finding threads in which I participated AND that have a new post

Hello,

As I was sifting through some ideas on the Lithium Idea Exchange, I saw this idea posted by Laura last year (referencing another idea for an RSS feed for all activity). I went ahead and voted for this idea as this is exactly what you guys are asking for (and have been asking for for quite some time -- I don't think the Idea Exchange was an option when you guys originally asked for the feature from Molly). At any rate, I am bringing this idea up to Lithium again and wanted to give you the opportunity to give it some love in the meantime. Sorry... you have to create an account to vote.

Hey Jordan, the Lithium Idea Exchange - including Dev Nation and other things of potential interest - is now restricted to Lithium customers (this policy change happened sometime within the last several weeks). They are considering whether to open access to some of these things back up to the public, but I don't know if the IdEx is one of those things. :smileyindifferent:

Darn, I was not aware of that. I guess my solo vote will have to do for now...

Thanks, Jack.
