I've seen a few posts where text has been replaced, incorrectly, by an emoticon. A recent one was when someone was indicating hours, minutes and seconds. The post had H:M:S but it was made somewhat difficult to read as it had apparantly been auto replaced. As there are options at the top of the window to insert any desired emoticon, could the options to auto convert standard text be disabled?
Rod.
Edit. The text above looks fine in the preview, but becomes mangled during posting. If I edit the text it looks fine again. It should be "H : M : S" but without the spaces either side of the colons.

For what is worth, I am reading your post on a tablet and don't see any text converted to an emoticon.

Just read your post in a PC and no emoticon is present either.

click on your user name and go to My Settings
Pick Preferences and Display.
for emoticon type, choose none.
Then Save
See attached.

Thanks. That sorted it. Surely that should be the default behaviour.
I shouldn't have to turn off a text mangling "feature"
