In the past site maintenance outages were often announced here or on the top of the Forums pages.
Outages today (and I think I recall at least one other recently) were not announced either before or after. Even a brief "An unplanned outage occurred but has now been fixed" type of message posted after the fact would be courteous. If the site is back up but the cause of the outage was unknown and might recur, an announcement to that effect would be helpful as well.
They manage to put up a "Sorry the site is down" message so some followup or predictive information such as expected time of restoration of service should not be too hard.
Please ask Lithium to improve their communication when the site goes down.
