We took a look at this issue with the notifications feature, and at this moment this has been escalated to Lithium Support and they have confirmed that this is a bug. There is no ETA for a fix yet. However, we will let you know when we have further updates.

This issue should now be resolved. When opening a topic from the Notification Feed, you should be taken to the new, unread post. Please let us know if you continue to have issues with this.
