NIFB Reinstall in Virtual Server

All,

We are attempting to reinstall NI-FBUS 3.2 on a virtual machine (Hyper-V). We are having a hard time getting the software to recognize our previously activated license key. Is there an issue I need to be aware of?

With virtual machines, the ethernet cards are virtual.

Thanks,

Vint

Re: NIFB Reinstall in Virtual Server

Hi Vint,

What's OS running on this virtual machine? Could it access the internet?

I don't know Hyper-V, but I know in VMWare you can create a network with different mode, like bridge, NAT etc. Please make sure the network settings are correct and your virtual machine can access the internet before activating FBUS.

Please tell me more details if you still have problems with this. Thank you!

Re: NIFB Reinstall in Virtual Server

These are process control systems and as such have no internet access. They are running Windows Server 2003 R2. I can ping the Softing HSE FFM modules and all other physical devices. With Hyper-V, there are no network modes as you describe, but the virtual NICS can be configured with the same MAC addresses as the physical server.

Thanks,

Vint

Vint,

Since the system has no internet access, you can email fieldbus.support@ni.com to acquire an activation code. Then you can use it to activate the product directly.
