i am using two microphones (actually to calibrate one with the other). the problem is ...one of them is battery powered while the other needs a B&K type 2839 power supply( which i've connected to the same plug as the DaQ connector box).
which of these can i consider as a grounded signal/floating signal.
i heard somewhere that most instrumentation microphones are floating signal sources.is it applicable in this case?
Welcome to the forums! Typically instruments powered by batteries are floating source and instruments powered by wall plugs are referenced to ground. However, the microphone that uses the power supply plugged into the wall could be floating as well. This depends on the internal circuitry of the microphone. You will want to look in the microphone's user manual to see if you can find any information on this.
