Office 2013 Ni-DAQMX

Hi,

I am using USB-6212, and recently upgraded to Office 2013. However, since installing Office 2013, the NI Configuration Manager Service fails with error 1067.

The Measurement & Automation Explorer fails to show the device, claiming the MAX terminated abnormally.

Once I removed Office 2013, the issue was gone and all went back to function normally.

Is there any solution to this issue?

Kind Regards,

Hey Nemesis_001,

There are two things I can think of that could be causing the issue. The first is that the Configuration Manager service isn't starting. Here's a KnowledgeBase article on how to check that:

The other possibility is that your MAX database has become corrupted or is being blocked by your firewall. Here's another KnowledgeBase article about resolving those issues:

I'd start with these steps, and if the problem persists, please let us know.

That is indeed correct as I stated, the Configuration Manager Service is not starting, no matter what. I even tried a complete removal and re-installation of the Ni-DAQMX software, but the service simply fails to start. Only after I had removed Office 2013 from the system, the service came back to life immediately.

Nemesis_001,

Can you check to see if the NI mDNS Responder service has started? That one has to be started for the Configuration Manager service to start, and it's likely that the mDNS service is not starting. If it is not started and you try to start it, you may see Error 1075. Here's a KnowledgeBase article on fixing that error:

http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/A05913DE561AB739862579F7005C4F81

It'd also be useful to know what version of DAQmx you're using--the newest version is 9.6.

Hopefully this will help resolve the issue. Since Office 2013 hasn't been officially released yet, we don't have a lot of information about any compatibility issues that may arise with our products, so it's an unsupported configuration at this time. Unfortunately, the best solution may be to not use Office 2013 until its official release.

Let us know if the steps in the KB article don't help, and we can continue troubleshooting if needed.

Hi,

Thanks for your help.

I am using version 9.5.5 of the software.

I will try re-installing Office 2013 and check whether mDNS responder is working, although I am pretty sure I saw it running.

I will double check though.

Kind Regards,
