Is the header on the SHB12X-H3X24 cable VHDCI?

Is the header on the SHB12X-H3X24 differential cable the same mechanically as the header of the SHC68-H1X38 single-ended cable? In other words, is it a VHDCI connector?

Hi TomC_NGC,

No they are not the same.  The SHB12X-H3X24 is a 12x Infiniband which means it has 24 differential pairs (48 pins) as opposed to the 68 pins that the VHDCI connector has.

If using this cable with the NI 6587 module are the SE_PFI<1..3> signals accesible at the cable output? Is there a schematic of the infiniband connector and cable output headers?

Hi sholm,

You can access the SE_PFI<1..3> signals with the SHB12X-H3X24.  I'm not aware of a schematic, but there is a description of the channels and groupings in the User Guide for the cable found in the link below.

USER GUIDE
Differential Digital Flying Lead Cable
Accessory for Differential NI Digital Waveform Generator/Analyzers

http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/374575b.pdf

Most of our devices that use this cable have a slightly different pin-out than the NI 6587 and so the Channel labels (found in Table 1 of the User Guide) on the cable don't map to the 6587 in a couple of cases.  The differences are described below.

SE_PFI_1 corresponds to the positive "+" pin on the connector labeled "RESERVED"

SE_PFI_2 corresponds to the positive "+" pin on the connector labeled "CLKOUT LVPECL"

SE_PFI_3 corresponds to the negative "-" pin on the connector labeled "CLKOUT LVPECL"

Hopefully this information is helpful!
