Input current USB-6525 with 24 VDC input source

Hi all,

I received today my USB-6525 which I want to use to adquire a digital signal (1=+24VDC, 0=0VDC). Before adquiring this signal, I want to test the DAQ with a voltage source I have at home (+24V 1.5A) The question has arrived when I looked at the user's guide and i saw this specification: "Input current ...........................................3.0 mA/channel max".

My question is, can I connect directly the voltage source to the USB-6525?

Thanks!

Just because your supply can put out the 1.5A doesn't mean it will actually put out the 1.5A.  In this situation, it will likely only put out the 3mA.  But to be safe, I would add a resistor in series of your DIO to protect it.  The series resistor will limit the current going into the digital input.
