Error -200077 external trigger

Hi,

I am very new to LabVIEW. I am trying to use an external trigger from a moving stage via NI USB-6281 to perform some measurements in my setup. I get the following error in DAQmx Timing v:

Error -200077 occurred at Property Node DAQmx Timing (arg 2) in DAQmx Timing (Sample Clock).vi
Possible reason(s):

Requested value is not a supported value for this property. The property value may be invalid because it conflicts with another property.

Property: SampQuant.SampMode
Requested Value: Hardware Timed Single Point
You Can Select: Finite Samples, Continuous Samples

The way I understand it, I need to select "Hardware Timed Single Point" as the sample mode since I need the external trigger to start my desired action every time.

Can someone please explain it to me what are the possible reasons to get this error in the first place and why doesn't it accept this sample mode?

tnx.

You do not always need to select "Hardware Timed Single Point" when using an external trigger to start a desired action, it just depends on your setup. Have you tried selecting "Finite Samples" or "Continuous Samples" to see if those will work?
