Additional option for Virtualbench I2C address decoding for 8 digits

Status: New

Hi,

It will be great if VirtualBench have an option that we can choose 7 or 8 digits to be decoded for I2C address. I understand that we usually decode 7 digits for address and the eighth digit for read/write for I2C protocol but sometimes we need to decode 8 digits for I2C address and the eighth digit still for read/write to satisfy our work.

Thanks,

Brian

Hi all,

Here is the example for decoding I2c address for all 8 digits.

As you can see, Tekronic Oscilloscope decoding I2C address for all 8 digits and the eighth digit for read/write. Our customer also need to decode all 8 digits for I2C address in their application. Hope we can have this new function for VirtualBench in the future.

Thanks,

This did come up when we designed the bus decode feature. We made the choice to not display addresses as "8-bit", because as per the I²C specification the only correct addressing modes for I²C are 7-bit and 10-bit, and we chose to adhere to that specification's terminology instead of the incorrect "8-bit" usage.
