Add documentation about different channel properties

Currently it is hard to find out whether a property can be set for a specific channel, or only per module. An example is the Strain Gauge Excitation property, which can only be set per module. Other properties can be different per channel.

 

Idea: Add a device specific comment in for example Max, about the different properties.  For example:

I like the idea of documenting the specifics of DAQmx property behavior better. Here are some additional things to consider:

  • A given property may be per-device on some device types and per-channel on other device types. For example, the SCXI-1520 supports setting different excitation values on each channel, but the SCXI-1122 requires you to set the same excitation value on all channels. How would you recommend handling this case?
  • The DAQ Assistant supports setting a property on multiple channels at the same time, and these channels may be on different devices. What would be displayed when you shift-select channels from both an SCXI-1520 and an SCXI-1122?

There are two options.

You start from the properties and start documenting each device.

You start from the device and start documenting each property.

 

Isn't it an idea to have device specific info available in the specs? Then you can point to the specs.
