Hello,
I am trying to convert some CAN logs (.asc) that includes messages with data packets larger than 8 bytes. One of these messages in particular has a data packet that is 51 bytes long. This message does not covert using the BUS log converter. It appears as though DIAdem only converts messages of 8 bytes in length. Is this true. Is there any workaround? Thanks in advance.

Hi prlttc,
Yes, you're correct in saying that the Bus Log Converter is configured to accept an 8-byte payload (see the following DIAdem Help documentation here). If you have another conversion method that you generally use to convert those files, you may be able to call into that from the DIAdem environment. How do you currently analyze the file?

Hello prlttc,
with DIAdem 2015 and older the conversion of asc files is limited to 8 payload bytes for CAN. If the messages are written with J1939 protocol more bytes are possible. In DIAdem 2017 the converter supports CAN FD and isn't limited to 8 payload bytes anymore.
