I've been trying to find a way to display 2-D data in a checkerboard display format. For instance I wish to display a X-Y two dimensional matrix that has an integer in each X-Y location indicating the checkerboard colour. Similar to the picture graph functionality in Labview.

To clarify, this display is for a report layout.

Hi Bilby,
Here's the recipe.
1) Select the 3D Surface type "2D matrix"
2) In the "2D matrix" configuration dialog, set the X and Y widths to 0
3) Set the "2D matrix" color to "Glob. Palette 1"
4) Set the 3D rotation angles to show the XY plane from straight above
5) Use XYZZZZZ (matrix) formatted data, not XYZ (triplet) data
