I'm wondering how the ODBC connection is made, and if updating it 8 times a second is too much.

Just adding my two cents to this thread in hopes it'll help someone else. I had the same problem and used the clues in CJ's response to work around it.
My issues were also with Relay modules. Re-drawing the wires didn't help. However, dropping my block size down from 32768 to 10000 seems to have done the trick.
