Hi Doug^2,

There are lots of great examples installed on your computer with your NI software.  If you go to your Windows Start Menu > All programs > National Instruments > NI-DAQ > Text-Based Code Support > ANSI-C Examples.  From here it sounds like you want to go to Counter > Digital Pulse and find your appropriate example.

Best of luck!

On further inspection, the example does not use an external trigger.

Suggestions?

Doug^2,

Based on what you're trying to accomplish, it's tough to give you the exact code you need, but I did fine this example which may get you started. http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/908

Also, there are a lot of other examples in that directories I navigated you to before that may be helpful.  Check the Analog Input directory.
