photodiode input pin

Hi All,

I am simulating a circuit containing the photodiode BPW 34 in Multisim. This elements has 3 pins. The two usual one for diodes and a third one named "Input (P)". I assume that this pin is meant to input light signals from an external light source to simulate the reaction of the photodiode:

1) am I right?

2) Which source can I use to produce light output that can be sent to the photodiode input pin?

Cheers,

Khaled

Hi Khaled,

Multisim does not understand light, so what you have to do is use voltage/current source to represent light or other real world properties.  For example you can use a voltage control switch and connect it to a diode as shown in the attached file.
