Solved!

I'm just starting to learn to use multisim. My first project is a simple 555 astable oscillator. It should oscillate at about

1800Hz. I'm getting nothing out of the simulation. I can't see what I'm doing wrong. Attached is a screen shot of my setup.

Whould appreciate any insights. I've also set the initial conditions to zero, no change.

Thanks,

You should ask a moderator to move this to the Multiism Board.

Hi Penguin,

I think you meant to make C4 0.1uF and not 0.1F.

If you can't get the circuit to work, it's better if you post the Multisim file so that I can see how you built the circuit. There are things in the Multisim file that I can't see from a screen shot.

Thaks,

Tien,

I mean't to make it .1uF, as you pointed out. I'll try that, but I've used various sized caps with no results. I'll send the file if this fails.

I tried the .1uf no change. Attached is the timer file.

Two things:

1. Move R5 around, you will see there is a wiring problem.

2. I suggest you use the 555 from the "Mixed" group under the "Timer "family. The rated 555 you selected have extra codes in the model to determine when it should blow up, sometime the extra code can make the model less accurate. It does simulate but you don't get the 1.8kHz

Thanks Tien,

I'll try those two things.

That worked. The lesson for me is to verify each connection, and stick with the mixed use components.

Thanks,
