inner layer properties

I changed my inner layer properties from a solid fill to a blank fill so that i could see my traces. How do i set the inner layers back to a solid fill?

You need to find the copper areas and change the fill back to solid. I'm assuming you have a power plane, but this will work slightly modified for copper areas.

  1. Turn off visibility for other layers
    1. In the Design Toolbox, select the Layers tab
    2. Turn off visibility for all layers except the one with the power plane
  2. Change selection to only select copper areas (power planes are a special copper area)
  3. Double click the power plane
  4. On the Copper Area tab, change the Fillstyle to solid (it is a black rectangle)

For the future, you can also set Ultiboard to not draw copper areas if you just need to look temporarily. You just have to remember that you have them turned off. I have many times forgotten that they were turned off and was puzzled when I draw one and I don't see it.

  1. Click Options > Global Preferences
  2. Select the  PCB Design tab
  3. Uncheck Show Copper Areas (near the top left)
