autorouter connecting to powr planes

I recently completed a board in which maybe 50% of the connections were autorouted, the rest being either high current and locked in place or routings which the autorouter couldn't do.

I then found, to my horror, that all of the ground and power pins were daisy chained on the top copper layer. Apparently the autorouter is not capable of connecting to the ground or voltage planes right underneath it.

I am in the process of manually fanning out each power/ground pin, which seems easy enough, except that the ratnest lines do not disappear as connections are made to the appropriate plane. This seems to indicate that pins which I would have thought are now connected via the plane, aren't.

What is going on? How can this be made to work?

Possible to post up your file so we can have a look?

I am unable to sent the file in question.

However, your response seems to indicate that it is indeed possbile for the autorouter to connect ground and power to their respective planes. If the autorouter can sink vias to inner layes for the purpose of connecting other pins, why not power and ground?

Please advise as to your experience.

It can, you may have to set the power plane properties and adjust nets to daisy chain.  I've seen that correct the issue.  My experience......more than a decade of regular use of Multisim and Ultiboard.
