MS 14 configure file corruption?

MS 14 opens up OK but shortly after I open a schematic page I get:

"Encountered an improper argument"

and then I'm asked to restore from a backup or default.  Whichever I choose it then opens up and recovers with no schematic sheet visible and I see no way to get it back.  The upper toolbar takes up the whole screen and no scheamtic can be seen.

I see now way to recover from this so MS14 is not usable.

Any ideas?
