Hi stressed,

 

I've taken a look at your problem and I agree with Tom that the voiding property should be able to get the results you're looking for. 

 

In your test example with the three shapes, if you disable voiding on shape 'B' only, you will see it now appears to be "on top" of the other shapes (or cutting out part of shape 'C'). 

 

Tom is also correct that the z-order of shapes depends on which shape was placed first, but you can use the voiding setting to control this. If voiding is disabled on a copper area, other shapes placed on top of it should never "cut out" of it, it will always appear to be on top. 

 

Please let me know if that makes sense.
