Components for MultiSim

Hi,

Can anyone point me, or send me, to a site where I can download the Intel family' components, including 8088, 8086 and their interfacing IC's, to add them to the MULTISIM.

Thanks in Advance

I would like to know how you intend to use them. Are you just needing them for PCB layout purposes or are you going to try and simulate with them? If the latter is the case, then I don't think that would be possible as the microprocessors have to have a program in order to work and, other than the MCU Module which only supports the 8051 microcontroller and the PIC16F84 microcontroller, there are no provision with which to program them in order to simulate with them. Also, you cannot, at this time, add any other microcontrollers or processor to the MCU Module.

The interlacing IC may be able to be simulated if it has a model file and doesn't require external language type programming.

I don't really think you are going to find any spice models for processors. Even if you did there is no way to program them, but I will look and see if I can find anything.

Thank you for your reply.
I need them for PCB layout purposes. Can you please send them  to me.
Do you know a package that can perform that simulation on Intel processors, for example, throughout writing a virtual software or another way?

I do not know of any Spice based simulator that can simulate microprocessors. Multisim has an MCU Module but like I said it is only compatible with the 8051 and PIC64F84 family of Microcontrollers. You might want to check Intel's sight as they may have their own development environment that could possibly simulate thier microprocessors (I don't know this for any fact, but sometimes these processor manufacturers have their own thing going to allow you to simulate thier processor in developing systems that use them.)

I am sorry, but I don't have any footprints for any of these IC and I didn't mean for my post to sound like that I did. I was just wanting to let you know about the simulation issue in case that was what you were trying to do. You may end up having to create one from the datasheet. That shouldn't be too hard with the component wizard if you are only using them for PCB work since you don't have to worry about the simulation end of things.

I wish I could have been more help, but this is all I know on this matter

Hi, you can visit the Technical Library, the Tutorials section includes two tutorials for creating new components in Multisim and Ultiboard.

You can create the component in Multisim, then assign a footprint if there is the exact footprint you are looking for already in the database (you can check what footprint you need from Intel's datasheet). If the footprint you are looking for is not included, then I will recommend that you first follow the Ultiboard component creation tutorial first (to create the footprint) and then the Multisim component creation.

the 8088 microprocessor data sheet site is at http://www.chipdocs.com/pndecoder/datasheets/INTEL/8088.html it'd be useful Smiley Happy

dear sir,
where can we find an 8088 microprocessor footprint database for multisim ?
I really would apriciate this help

I have searched everywhere I can think of on the internet including Intel's website and I can't find any footprints for the 8088. Unfortunately you may have to use the Tutorials, as mentioned in a previous post, and the datsheet to create these. It may help to find a simular processor in the database and edit that instead of starting from scratch (if there is one in the database that is close to it).

I wish there was more I could tell you, but there isn't anything available that is pre-made that I can find.

thanks for all replies 1* in tutorials of Creating a Custom Component in NI Multisim: http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/3173#toc2 in "Step 2: Enter Footprint and Package Information" i can't find footprint from datasheet to select it from data mannger 2*is footprint =package? 3*what does footprint mean? 4*is the footprint the same as the specification numbers of pins ,input, output, gnd, vcc,"? I really would apriciate this help
