Further to my first post I would be grateful if anyone could provide any advice regarding EWB4 on windows xp.
The problem is this: I have installed EWB4 on windows xp however the program functionality appears to be limited as certain components in the left hand toolbar are absent.
Is this a security lock that prevents one from installing the software on multiple pc's? I have uninstalled the previous installtion of EWB4 from my old pc!
Many thanks

Hi David,
I can see your not having much luck here. Let me provide you with a couple of options that may solve your issue.
Primarily older versions of this software require a release code to transfer them onto new machines. Details of how to do this are provided in the following link.
http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/B78BEF8BFD79C97B8625729D0068E1DE
The above article does stipulate that the online release code generator is for versions 6 – 9. However I recommend that you try it anyway. As also detailed in the article if the online release code generator doesn’t work you should consider emailing the team at NI direct through releasecodes@ni.com.
My only other recommendation is for you to get hold of a ME emulator and run EWB Version 4 on XP through that.Hope this information helps.

Hi David and Daniel,
Electronics Workbench/Mutltisim changed a lot between version 5 and 6, including the licensing, and I don't believe this is the problem.
Unfortunately, Windows ME is significantly different from Windows XP in many ways, so it is not surprising that you have been unable to get Electronics Workbench 4 to work on Windows XP (version 4 predates XP by several years).
The best chance is to change the compatibility mode for the executible file.
1. Locate the directory where the program is installed, find the main exe file
2. Right click the file and select properties
3. Select the Compatibility tab
4. Check "Run this program in combatibility mode for" and then change the selection to "Windows 98 / Windows ME"
5. Click OK
6. Now try running the program.
If you're lucky, it will work. If not, I don't think there is anything else to try other than finding a copy of Windows 98 or ME (or running on Wine on Linux).

Thanks for the replies, I will go down the release code route and post the outcome on this thread.
Incidentally I did try VMware Workstation emulator in WinME mode, the result is no different to Windows XP.

I also have this software and I am in need of the manual. Is it available?
