simulate a shot noise??

i want to do noise analysis for my receiver circuit which contain a photodiode.  how can i simulate a shot noise for the photodiode?? is there any shot noise model in multisim??  please help..

Hi z.a.m,

Multisim includes a noise analysis tool that can be accessed from Simulate>>Analyses>>Noise Analysis.

You can use this to model and simulate different types of circuit noise (including shot noise), a guide to configuring a noise analysis in Multisim can be found here.

thanks adam.. but in the notes, it will sum all noise contributions in the circuit.. what i intended to do is to simulate individual noise contribution.. is it possible in multisim??

As noted in the White Paper, Multisim calculates the total noise by first calculating the noise generated by each component individually.

You can select the variables for analysis (including noise generated by individual components) from the Output tab of the Noise Analysis window.
