Solved!

Hi,

I am trying to do transient anaysis of a capacitor circuit, in Multisim, I set up the circuit as shown below:

But when I do the analysis, this is all I get:

Does anyone know what im doing wrong

Thanks in Advance

Hi Ewan,

That is a very good question you asked and had me stumped the first time too. What you need to do is to tell Multisim that your capacitor starts off discharged. By default, Multisim will figure out what what the steady state voltages are and start simulation from there. What you want to do is the following:

1 - Double click the wire connecting the resistor and capacitor. The Net window will pop up.

2 - Check the box labeled Use IC for Transient Analysis (IC stands for initial conditions).

3 - Enter the voltage that your capacitor starts at. If you are assuming that the capacitor starts discharged, enter 0.

4 - Click OK.

5 - Try to perform the transient analysis again.

Hope that helps.
