How did you get that "Start your Quest" image?  The only thing I see is a "Quest" link that is right there with map and satellite.

Wait!  It just started working for me.

Dropping the viking guy onto the quest map did nothing but give me the normal picture.  But changing the button to something else and then back with the picture already visible caused it to change to the 8-bit version and then it worked from there.

I just noticed something I never saw before on Google maps streetview.  The right click menu had a choice for 3D mode on or off.  When you turn it on, it takes the normal picture and gives it those red and blue tints like it might work with the old-fashioned 3D movie glasses.
