Back to the original question, it all depends on the definition of arm. Once this is nailed down, the rest falls into place. 😉
Quote: "... The term arm can also be used for analogous structures, such as one of the paired upper limbs of a four-legged animal...".
Thus the use of the term arm is OK for horses.

So, horses do indeed have arms?
/* Warning- puns abound below, in '' */
I guess I'll have to 'saddle' for that explanation.
So, I went out to the pasture and yelled 'Hay' to them. The horses come a running at an al 'arm' ing rate with 'unbridled' passion thinking it was time to 'feed'.
I ask them "do you guys really have four feet?" They think for a 'bit' (or they were 'stallion' for time) and finally reply 'NNNAAAAAAY'.
Guess they were pulling one over on me the first time. Time to 'pony' up- I feel like a horses arse. Let me insert my 'hoof' in my own mouth.
Next time I ask them a question, I'll have them write it down with 'pen' and paper, after all, they do have arms. Better yet, I'll conduct a 'gallop' poll on a larger sample size.

Robert:
You 'whinnie', guess I'll have to 'float' this thread to the top. I knew there was a couple terms I knew I had left out.
Floating is nasty, taking a big file to their teeth, sends shivers up my spine.

Man, I had a knight mare last night about this thread. The mane thing I remembered about it was:
In it my friend Pedro said "Man u r e crazy dude rancher, you must be de ranged"
"You must hitch this last reply to the post before you get carted away."
Joust kidding. Pretty lame and tacky. I really should keep my day job.

First of all, AYE MATEYS!
And to make things easier for future times, lets just skip the definition of animals humans bipeds quadrupeds nopeds pets and whatsoever and call things "LARM" or in french "Le Garm" as they like it a bit more fancy.
Regards,
