Share your best LabVIEW tip!

We all know and love Darren's nuggets that feature helpful LabVIEW tips, but we want to hear from more of you! What tips do you have to help make LabVIEW programmers more proficient?

Also, what kind of tips are you looking for?

Old tip, just as valid today as when I first posted it.

Visit the LV forum on a regular basis and try to answer questions that you fell confident about and those you you don't. The feed-back you will get will build your confidence and fill in those blanks in your knowledge.

There is no better way to learn and excel at LV than being exposed on a regular basis to the hundreds of "scouts" exploring the world of LabVIEW.

Ben took the words out of my mouth. I attempted and failed the CLD even after taking Core 1, 2 and 3. I just needed practice. I came out of lurk mode and started trying to help people with LabVIEW questions. I also looked for solved posts and tried to answer the question myself before looking at the solution. After a few months of doing this I passed the CLD. There just are not enough practice exams, multiple choice or practical. The forums are an excellent source of knowledge building exercises.

I make ditto to Steve post.. I am working on the same way as he told.

Well coming to the LabVIEW tip.

I would like to make a suggestion here. A good programmer can be identified not only by his logic building skills but how he puts logic to debugg a code that is very important. So if NI is able to give some debugging kind of problems (May be every week) to the users then it would help everyone to make use of the LabVIEW debugging skill.

I was going to let this pass since Ben said it so well and since anyone reading the breakpoint is a member of the choir I'm preaching to.  BUT, then I thought about all of you going to the next LUG in your area and a bit of personal humiliation might be good for me.

7 YEARS.  That how long I worked with LabVIEW on a dailly basis before joining the forums.  7 years- no logo in my signature block back then either.  I invite you to look into my early posts. (1 month in you'll find me learning how to index an arraySmiley Embarassed since I had allways miss interpereted the help file!)  Thank you Dennis!  3K+ posts later I still learn more about LabVIEW every day.  (But I do have some logos in my signature block!)  Guess where I learn the most?

Well we seem to be in agreement on the "BEST" so let me post links where you can find many more tips and tricks and see for yourself why the Community is the place to look for LabVIEW info.

Spoiler
(I love the double meaning of his name ie broken code or in the US navy it means somebody accidently dropped a nuke on the floor and it broke)

it is a list of useful posts that do not justify a unique thread but very enlightening.

Darren's weekly nugget

NI's own Nuggeteer was posting Nuggets once a week. Some of these spawned interesting conversations and lead to even more learning.

Rube Goldberg Code

See here

In this thread we discuss various code constructs that seem overly complicated. Most of the nominees in that thread are contrasted with their more elegant implementations. NOT all of the nominees are judged as true Rubes. Have YOU ever written a Rube?
