I was told this was supposed to get fixed in 8.5, but it seems now (8.5) the situation has become even worse!
 
 
 
(1) Apparently, we cannot easily leverage existing system VIs (e.g. nonlinear fitting), e.g. add functionality by saving it in a new place and making modification.

(2) However, we can easily modify (or break!) the existing system VIs and do a "save" or "save all" and it does not even ask for a password!!!!

Since these are two issues that are somewhat independent, I would prefer two CAR#s, one for each point. 🙂

Rather than discuss here, please refer to my response in the above referenced thread. I realize it is a little off topic for that thread as well, but better there than here (I think).

Under certain conditions (e.g the presence of a transpose), writing a binary file of DBLs writes all nulls:
 
 
(new for LabVIEW 8.5)
