CAN/LS troubleshooting - no CAN frames received/transmitted

I have just installed a low speed single port series1 CAN card for use on a 50kBaud fault-tolerant network. Whilst it passes the self-test successfully, no CAN messages are received using the MAX Bus Monitor and the card does not send an ACK bit in response to data on the network. MAX confirms that the card is setup for the correct baudrate, and I have tried changing the power supply jumper with no success.

In an identical setup (same PC, same terminations/ground scheme) with a series2 dual port CAN card the system works correctly.

Is there any additional setup steps that I have missed out?

Thanks in advance for your help

Hi Alan

Unlike the Series 2 low-speed PCI/PXI CAN cards, the Series 1 version requires the physical layer to be externally powered (from the CAN bus).
The Series 1 CAN hardware is no longer documented in the NI-CAN Hardware and Software Manual. The last version of the Series 1 hardware documentation shipped with NI-CAN 2.0. You can also find just that document online.
Please take a look at appendix C, 'Cabling Requirements for Low-Speed CAN' for more details on this.
