9862 power cable

Solved!
Go to solution

Hello,

I want to use a NI9881 CAN module which requires an additional power supply (Vsup pin of the DB9).

Moreover i have a CAN power cable with a positive and a negative terminal in addition to the DB9.

Are this positive and negative terminal, pins for the power supply, or do i have to connect directly the Vsup pin ?

Thank you !

If you have a NI power cable such as this one: CAN Cables with Power Terminal

Then the + terminal on the cable is tied to Pin 9 and Vsup.

The - terminal will be tied to Gnd.

The NI CAN Breakout Box is kinda nice in these situations.  It might seem expensive for what is mostly a DB-9 break out, but it has screw terminals for power input, and a DC barrel plug which make powering a CAN bus easier, along with switches for various resistor termination.
